The festival is for all bassoon players – whether you are professional, amateur or student you are welcome to participate.
On the initiative of Pieter Nuytten, solo bassoonist with the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, the Ghent Bassoon Festival is organised by Fagotnetwerk and the conservatoria of Rotterdam and Ghent.
As a music student, professional or advanced amateur, you have the opportunity to participate in high-level master classes.
There is also the possibility of joining in a master class for contrabassoon. And as an amateur you can participate in a parallel programme with ensemble play and workshops.
Joost Bosdijk (London Symphony Orchestra), Simon Van Holen (Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest), Philipp Tutzer (Mozarteumorchester Salzburg), Bram van Sambeek and Stefano Canuti have all promised their contribution.
Both visitors and participants are welcome to attend the public master classes. In addition, leading bassoonists will give short recitals and, in some cases, full concerts.
Furthermore, bassoon manufacturers, reed makers and reed machine builders will be represented in workshops and exhibitions.
The annual general meeting of Fagotnetwerk also takes place during the festival.
So, Ghent will be packed full with bassoonists during Easter weekend of 2014 – a unique opportunity for you to learn from and inspire other bassoonists!
